Rationale: This is a clear GenOps role leading Snowflake's Production Engineering team with ownership of production reliability tools, SLO governance across engineering, probing infrastructure, and incident response processes. The role owns the control plane for reliability (SLOs, detection systems) and has explicit governance scope (driving reliability culture, operational excellence standards) for a customer-facing cloud data platform.

Job Description

Snowflake is about empowering enterprises to achieve their full potential — and people too. With a culture that’s all in on impact, innovation, and collaboration, Snowflake is the sweet spot for building big, moving fast, and taking technology — and careers — to the next level.

The Production Engineering team at Snowflake is responsible for driving the reliability tools and processes that ensure Snowflake consistently delivers a top-tier experience for its customers. This includes championing Service Level Objectives (SLOs) across all of Engineering, building the probing infrastructure necessary for rapid detection of reliability issues, and deeply engaging in incident response and its surrounding processes. We think about production reliability end-to-end: how do we proactively prevent issues, quickly detect and diagnose problems when they arise, and efficiently resolve them to minimize impact. We drive the culture of learning from every incident.

We are actively looking for an Engineering Manager to lead and grow a subgroup of this team. This role is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact in shaping the vision, architecture and approach for the team.

AS AN ENGINEERING MANAGER AT SNOWFLAKE YOU WILL:

  • Identify and attract top talent from diverse backgrounds and perspectives.

  • Foster a positive and inclusive culture where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered to contribute.

  • Deliver exceptional results that exceed customer expectations, drive business growth, and make a meaningful impact on our industry.

OUR IDEAL MANAGER WILL HAVE:

  • 10+ years industry experience designing, building and supporting large scale systems in production.

  • 3+ years experience in managing a group of junior and senior engineers.

  • Demonstrated track record of leading the Site Reliability Engineering or Production Engineering Teams.

  • Demonstrated track record of building, growing and leading technical teams.

  • Demonstrated track record of driving operational excellence to ensure reliable software delivery meeting high quality standards.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to collaborate with internal customers and establish solid, collaborative partnerships with engineers, non-technical team members, and executives

  • Strong problem solving skills and background in coding

  • BS / MS in Computer Science or related fields
